The Real Reason to Celebrate This Thanksgiving

Today is Thanksgiving, a day we pause to reflect on what truly matters.

It’s also a day we stuff our faces with an obscene amount of turkey, potatoes, and the greatest dessert ever devised by mankind – pumpkin pie.

I’m thankful for that pumpkin pie.

And I’m thankful to still be healthy enough to not drop dead of a heart attack after gorging myself on it.

I’m also thankful that we live in a free country where we can still speak our mind and live our lives (mostly) free of government meddling.

Sort of…

We’re still working on that, I suppose.

Most of all, I’m thankful for you and your fellow readers. There would be no Freeport Society without you.

You’re part of a community that values independence, grit, and the freedom to carve your own path through life.

And that’s more important now than ever…

We live in an Age of Chaos. It’s defined by rapid change and a breakdown of the old order in technology, business, and politics.

In a chaotic world full of uncertainty, Thanksgiving reminds us of what grounds us – the love of family and friends, the opportunities that come with perseverance, and the blessings of living in a nation built on liberty and self-reliance.

Today, let’s celebrate those blessings.

Put your phone down. Or better still, turn it off for the rest of the day. Be present with the people around you. Sit on the couch and watch a football game with them without distractions.

And enjoy that pumpkin pie…

Thank you for being part of our journey and for continuing to champion the principles we hold dear.

Have a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving!
